After getting eliminated by the San Francisco 49ers in a heartbreaking fashion recently, the Green Bay Packers are looking to improve in the offseason. One way the team could do that is by replacing David Bakhtiari with a younger talent via the upcoming NFL Draft.
There’s no question that the offense has been great this season for the Packers. After surpassing the uncertainty of trading Aaron Rodgers away to the New York Jets, the team has found a new foundational piece in Jordan Love.
Thanks to Love’s breakout season, the Packers have managed to stay relevant and competitive, even to the point of facing the top-seeded 49ers in the playoffs. And even though Love himself committed mistakes in the crucial game leading to their elimination, the future looks bright for Green Bay, especially if the franchise uses its picks in the draft wisely.
Green Bay Packers projected to land Tyler Guyton as David Bakhtiari’s Replacement In Mock NFL Draft
Often regarded as one of the team’s weak links due to injury, Bakhtiari’s spot in the roster may be up for grabs for the following season. If this becomes a reality, the Packers could target Tyler Guyton in the draft to improve the team’s offensive lineup.
According to a mock draft created by NFL analyst Lancer Zierlein:
“David Bakhtiari‘s recent injury history and salary-cap hit in 2024 could make this an easy choice. Guyton is big, long and athletic with exciting protection potential, but he needs more game experience,” Zierlein wrote.
In essence, Guyton can fulfill Bakhtiari’s role due to his athleticism, size, and feel for the game, traits that can potentially work well with Love on the field. On the other hand, the upcoming rookie possesses disorganized footwork and his aiming points still need some work to be done on them.
Nevertheless, having a guy present on the field is better than one who’s constantly injured. Should Green Bay go for Guyton, there’s bound to be some promise for the team’s performance down the line.
