The Green Bay Packers have been at the center of massive trades over the last few years. Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers were traded in back to back off-seasons. Those moves were the start of a new era in Green Bay that culminated in the 2023 season led by Jordan Love and numerous young weapons around him.
With that being said, Packers fans still keep their eye on former franchise players. That was no different when Adams spoke out recently about the upcoming 2024 season.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Davante Adams Sent Fans Into A Frenzy
According to a report from TMPSN:
Adams, now a standout player for the Las Vegas Raiders, shared a post on his Instagram page regarding former teammate Josh Jacobs’ signing with the Green Bay Packers. In his post, Adams praised his former team for the move, sparking speculation that he may harbor a desire to return to Green Bay.
The Raiders faced a setback when they lost the 2022 rushing champion to the Packers, who secured Jacobs with a substantial four-year contract valued at $48 million. Despite the length of the deal, its structure essentially amounts to a one-year contract with a series of one-year options.
Davante Adams sounds like he wants to go back to Green Bay

Two years ago, the Packers traded Adams to the Raiders in exchange for 2022 first and second-round draft picks. Subsequently, Adams inked a record-breaking five-year extension worth $140 million, making him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.
Adams initially sought to reunite with his former Fresno State teammate and quarterback, Derek Carr, upon joining the Raiders. However, Carr was released by the Raiders following the 2022 season. With Las Vegas enduring consecutive losing seasons, speculation has mounted regarding Adams’ potential desire for a trade.
Since Adams’ departure, the Packers’ offense has experienced a void. Although Jordan Love emerged as a promising franchise quarterback in 2023, it is evident that he could benefit from the presence of a proven Pro Bowl-caliber wide receiver to elevate his performance.
At 31 years old, Adams represents an ideal solution for the Packers’ offensive needs. However, it remains uncertain whether the team would be willing to absorb his substantial contract. Conversely, the Raiders’ stance on trading Adams remains ambiguous.
Would The Packers Ever Consider Trading For Davante Adams
In short? Absolutely not.
The Packers have made it clear that they are interested in one type of player for their franchise. Young and talented. The Packers’ general manger has moved on from:
- Aaron Rodgers
- Davante Adams
- Aaron Jones
- Allen Lazard
- Randall Cobb
- Marcedes Lewis
- Robert Tonyan
- Darnell Savage
To just name a few. He is not afraid of making the tough decisions for the future of this franchise. Parting was with (likely) premium draft capital for a 31-year-old wide receiver (even if he is still one fo the best in the game) doesn’t fit what he is trying to do.
The Packers have a plethora of young talent at the wide receiver position including Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Bo Melton, and Dontayion Wicks. They certainly feel confident in that young group moving forward.
