Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Hundley is now the highest-paid player in the revived XFL. He recently signed a one-year $200,000 contract to be the quarterback of the Las Vegas Vipers. In an exclusive interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Hundley talked about his world travels, goals for 2023 with the Vipers and shed some light on current Packers quarterback and his former teammate, Aaron Rodgers.

I understand you are a world traveler. What are your top five destinations?

“Oh man, that’s tough because I’ve been all over the world. I would have to say that number one for me, though, is New Zealand. I rented an RV and just drove around South Island for like 10 days. They have those giant, like, hamster balls that you can go in and I just rolled down the hills in one of those.

Other destinations Hundley mentioned visiting included a long trip on the African continent, Brazil, Israel, and India. One incredibly interesting fact that he shared is that he has seen every single Wonder of the World, and he saw them all before he first visited the Grand Canyon.

Hundley was asked how traveling became a passion for him:

“Well, my mom was a flight attendant, so I would fly for free. I didn’t have much time to do it, though, before I got to the NFL. I actually did not leave the country for the first time until I was 23 and went with her to Jamaica. But she would tell me about all the different places she went and all the cultures and I just wanted to see it all for myself.

On where he would like to go next:

“Iceland, for sure, and I would like to go to Tokyo to do the Mario Kart thing in the streets that they have over there.”

What are your goals for 2023 in the XFL with the Vipers?

“First and foremost, I want to win the championship. For me, it’s also just to get out there and play again. I’ve been in the league for eight years and got to play for Green Bay, but not really anywhere else. And I love football, but I love competing this gives me the chance to do that.”

Hundley then talked about how he is happy to be reunited on the Vipers with Geronimo Allison, one of his former teammates on the Packers. I told him that there were actually 32 former Packers currently on XFL rosters, and he responded with how great it is for the XFL to have talented players coming to be a part of it.

What was it like to play with Aaron Rodgers & how did he help you develop?

“Honestly, my time with Aaron was a great time. I give so much to him and also Green Bay so much credit, because that is where I became a quarterback. Aaron taught me how to be a true quarterback in the league. Aaron was a true leader and a great person at that. He had us over to his house, and he spent time with all of us. Spent Thanksgiving with him at his house. Holidays. He was a really awesome teammate.

“Thank you for letting me speak on that because I see all that stuff come out, and I’m like, ‘Nah.’ That’s not true. I still talk to Aaron to this day; that’s my brother.”
