The Milwaukee Bucks had been rumored to have been interested in free agent shooting guard Gary Trent Jr. for weeks. However, given the fact that they are not able to pay any free agents more than the veteran minimum, few thought that he would end up in Milwaukee.
However, Trent, who once was teammates with Bucks superstar Damian Lillard, has decided that attempting to win an NBA Championship with Milwaukee is worth playing on a minimum deal for a year.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Trent and the Bucks have agreed to a contract:

Trent and Lillard were teammates together on the Portland Trailblazers from 2018-2020.
How Does Gary Trent Jr. Fit on the Milwaukee Bucks Roster?

Gary Trent Jr. has primarily come off the bench for the majority of his career and has averages of 14.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He has played for the Trailblazers and the Toronto Raptors since being drafted in second round of the 2018 NBA Draft.
Over the course of his career, Trent has built a reputation for being a solid 3-and-D player in a reserve role. On this Bucks roster, he will take the place of Malik Beasley, who signed with the Detroit Pistons earlier this summer. Trent will, by all accounts, compete for the starting shooting guard position, which Beasley held for most of last year.
The only year in which Trent was primarily used as a starter was the 2021-22 season which he split between Portland and Toronto. That year, he averaged a career-high 18.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. He shot 41/38/85 from the floor that year.
Last year, Trent played in 71 games (41 as a starter) and shot 42/39/77 from the floor while averaging 13.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
What Will the Milwaukee Bucks Rotation Look Like During the 2024-25 NBA Season?

With Trent now on the roster, the Bucks’ starting rotation is likely going to look like this:
- Center: Brook Lopez
- Power Forward: Giannis Antetokounmpo
- Small Forward: Khris Middleton
- Shooting Guard: Gary Trent Jr.
- Point Guard: Damian Lillard
Their bench rotation is yet to be determined, but will include:
- Bobby Portis
- Pat Connaughton
- Delon Wright
- Taurean Prince
- AJ Green
- MarJon Beauchamp
- Andre Jackson Jr.
Their two picks in the 2024 NBA Draft will likely play for the Wisconsin Herd.
