The Green Bay Packers have a star in Aaron Jones. No matter if Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love has been under center, the offense is on a different level when Jones in on the field. That has been evident as ever this season.
However, Jones’ recent injury issues, age (29), and salary cap hit next season (over $17M) has created doubt as to whether or not he’ll be back next season. However, one report may have shed some light on what the Packers have to do.
Aaron Jones’ Future With The Green Bay Packers Is A “Must”

Matt Schneidman of The Athletic recently posted a mail bag in which one of the topics directly addressed Jones’ future:
Will the Packers keep Aaron Jones in 2024? My take: If he keeps gaining 100 yards per game and they reach the playoffs, GM Brian Gutekunst will offer him a trimmed-down contract. — Alan R.
The Packers need to find a way to keep Jones on the roster. You’re seeing in the last two weeks what he’s capable of when healthy. He’s a difference maker and the most important player on the offense not named Jordan Love, simply for how his dynamic ability is irreplaceable at the position.
Jones’ cap number is more than $17 million next year. The Packers will find a way to get that down and probably keep him for one more season before handing the keys to a running back they draft early in April .
Jones ran with authority in his third game back from an MCL injury, utilizing his quickness and cutback ability to make several solid gains. The final stats for his performance against the Vikings was 20 carries for 120 yards, the longest of which was 25 yards. In addition, he caught one pass for ten yards. For the second consecutive game, Jones has rushed for more than 100 yards and received at least 20 carries.

There is no coincidence that the Packers win when Jones gets his touches. In his career, the Packers are 15-1 when Jones has at least 20 touches in a game. Keeping him in Green Bay will be a priority, and something many insiders think the Packers will get done.

How is this a huge update? One reporter gave his opinion on what he thinks the Packers front office should do?
All the speculation in the world doesn’t effect the outcome. A short time ago, I read here about letting Preston Smith go. Wow. Really? Aaron is another team player. He motivates and propels the offense. He bleeds green and gold. I can’t think of a better player at RB. I hope he stays after the season.
