After a lengthy deliberation process, the Detroit Pistons have finally made a decision on their new President of Basketball Operations. News broke on Thursday that the Pistons have landed now-former New Orleans Pelicans general manager Trajan Langdon as their new man at the helm.
This officially ends Detroit’s search for a new team president, which previously involved serious interest in Milwaukee Bucks GM Jon Horst.
Detroit Pistons to Hire Trajan Langdon as New President of Basketball Operations
ESPN’s league insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on Wednesday:

As Woj reported, the Pistons are now finalizing Langdon’s new deal with the team, which should also involve the 48-year-old’s exit from New Orleans.
Langdon, who was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1999 NBA Draft, spent just three seasons in the league before taking his talents abroad. After his career as a professional, the former Duke standout started out as a scout for the San Antonio Spurs in 2012. He then served as an assistant general manager for the Brooklyn Nets between 2016 and 2019, before the Pelicans hired him to be their GM.
Jon Horst Remains in Milwaukee
Current Bucks GM Jon Horst reportedly drew serious interest from the Pistons. In fact, the high-ranking Milwaukee executive was supposed to interview for the job vacancy in Detroit. This was before the Bucks organization decided to block Horst’s potential move to the Pistons by refusing to grant Detroit permission to interview Horst.
According to reports, the Bucks were only willing to part ways with Horst in exchange for assets in a potential trade deal with Detroit. It is clear that the Pistons were unwilling to meet to Milwaukee’s demands, which led to their decision to move on to other candidates amid Horst’s apparent unavailability.
