REPORT: Green Bay Packers Expected To Rule Out 2 Offensive Players Against New Orleans Saints

The Green Bay Packers are expected to rule out two offensive players in their Week 3 contest against the New Orleans Saints.

The Packers had three players ruled out in their Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons: Christian Watson, David Bakhtiari, and Aaron Jones. 9Elgton Jenkins was injured against the Falcons.0

The Packers had some good news on the injury front Wednesday. Wide receiver Christian Watson is back to practice after missing the past few weeks with a hamstring injury. However, Jones doesn’t appear to be making much progress from last week after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 1.

Green Bay Packers expected to be without David Bakhtiari

The Packers received rough news on the status of Bakhtiari for their game against the Saints. Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Monday that Bakhtiari was out in Week 2 due to swelling in his knee. According to MJ Hurley with Media TDT, Bakhtiari is expected to miss Week 3.

That’s huge news for the Packers, who will face some of the league’s best pass rushers. Pro Football Focus ranks the Saints as having the sixth-best pass rush entering Week 3. The Saints have seven total sacks in 2023.

Missing Bakhtiari would be one thing. But they’re likely down their second-best offensive lineman. According to Rob Demovski with ESPN, Jenkins is expected to miss at least a few weeks with a sprained MCL:

“The Green Bay Packers were already without All Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari and now their Pro Bowl left guard Elgton Jenkins is expected to miss multiple weeks because of the left knee injury he sustained in Sunday’s loss at the Falcons.

Jenkins said Monday that he was diagnosed with a sprained MCL. It’s the same knee in which he had a torn ACL that ended his 2021 season. It was not immediately clear whether Jenkins will go on injured reserve, which would require him to miss a minimum of four games.”

Losing Bakhtiari and Jenkins will make for a tough test for Jordan Love and the Packers offense. The offense struggled without that duo and Jones during the second half in Week 2.
