Many did not anticipate seeing the Green Bay Packers or Las Vegas Raiders underperforming this year the way they have. Green Bay sits at 7-8 and is fighting for their playoff lives. The Las Vegas Raiders are 6-9 and well out of the playoff race in the AFC (even though they’re not mathematically eliminated yet). Back in March, the Packers and Raiders executed a blockbuster trade that sent star wide receiver Davante Adams out west to play with his college teammate in, Derek Carr. 15 weeks into the season, we now have Derek Carr benched. Today Davante Adams spoke out about his college teammate being benched.
Davante Adams Supports Derek Carr After Being Benched
Obviously I don’t think anybody was excited about it in here. You know, him being one of my really good friends and the reason why I came here in the first place, I wouldn’t be here right now if he wasn’t here. I think everyone knows how I feel about him. With that said this is the process of how things go and I’m not going to sit here and go on and on. Obviously I support my guy, but we gotta finish the season out the best way we can. All things considered.

When the Green Bay Packers placed the franchise tag on Davante Adams, it promised to pay Adams $20.1 million for the 2022 season. However, Adams wanted to be the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL, and Green Bay had offered him a deal that would have paid him north of $30 million per season. He still chose to go elsewhere. Now just nine months later, Adams has Derek Carr benched and gets Jarrett Stidham as his starting QB for the remainder of the 2022 season.
