The 2023 Milwaukee Brewers home opener was a special game to watch as players like Brice Turang and Freddy Peralta both shined. Turang, a rookie, became the fourth player in franchise history whose first career home run went for a grand slam. Peralta, an experienced veteran, pitched exceptionally well as he struck out seven batters over six innings and did not allow a run. The Brewers ended up easily defeating the New York Mets by a score of 10-0.
Following the game, Freddy Peralta almost started crying as he watched the video of Brice Turang hitting his grand slam and seeing his parents reaction.

Peralta, who was holding back emotions after watching the clip, said this about the moment between Brice Turang and his parents “It was kind of the same thing with my debut.”
Most remember mothers day in 2018 when Freddy Peralta broke onto the scene against the Colorado Rockies. That day he was filling in for an ill Chase Anderson and he ended up setting a Brewers franchise record with 13 strikeouts during his first career start. He also took a no-hitter to the 5 1/3 innings mark and was eventually pulled after 98 pitches.
The story gets even better when you remember that Peralta was scheduled to start for the Brewers Triple-A affiliate the Colorado Sky Sox that day. His parents had traveled from the Dominican Republic to watch him in that game and thankfully were able to go to Coors field instead. After the game, Peralta gave the ball in which he recorded his 13th strikeout to his mom.
After recalling Freddy Peralta’s debut it’s easy to see where he got the comparison from. Now both Peralta and Brice Turang have memorable moments with their parents present at games and that is something they can hold onto forever.
