The Green Bay Packers are in the midst of a disappointing season. The Packers have a record of 5-8 through 13 week. Not what many Packers fans expected to see this year. Even though he signed a massive three year extension back in March, whether or not Aaron Rodgers will be under center in 2023 is up in the air. Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst was asked whether or not he wants Aaron Rodgers back in 2023. His answer was questionable, then positive.
Brian Gutekunst Comments On Aaron Rodgers In 2023
After being asked if he wants Rodgers back in 2023, this was the GM’s response:
It’ll be an offseason decision for this spring. Surely, yeah. We want all our guys back. We made a big commitment to him this offseason, so that was important.
Annotating that it’ll be an off-season decision had some Packers fans wondering if Gutekunst will consider moving on from #12. Gutekunst did say it would be good for Jordan Love to play more this season. However he did go on to say “he’s seen all he needs to see before making the decision on his fifth-year option.” That could either be really good or really bad for Jordan Love. That being said, Gutekunst did also say he sees Jordan Love as a starting QB in this league, so maybe they’ll keep him around.
Either way the Packers may have some difficult decisions to make after the 2023 NFL season IF Aaron Rodgers comes back in 2023. Aaron Rodgers being back at the start of the 2024 season could spell a serious need to trade either Rodgers or Love.
