The Milwaukee Brewers lost 6-5 last night, and have dropped three straight games for just the first time all season. The loss dropped the Brewers to second in the National League Central Division. They are now a half game behind the St. Louis Cardinals, who have won five games in a row. The loss came hours after it was announced that Christian Yelich was headed back to the 10-day IL due to his sore back. As the Brewers try to salvage a split in the series, they turn to Freddy Peralta to deliver another stellar outing.
Brewers’ Starting Pitcher: Freddy Peralta
The Philadelphia Phillies tend to strike out a lot, which is great for Freddy Peralta, who ranks in the top four of opponents’ strikeout percentage. Peralta is coming off one of his best starts of the season against the Dodgers. In his last start, he threw six innings of one hit ball. The lone hit was a home run, but he only walked one and struck out seven. Peralta is 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA so far this season.
Peralta has had his share of struggles against current Phillies hitters in the past, though. Bryce Harper has just one hit in six at bats against him, but that hit was a home run. Rhys Hoskins in two for three with a home run against Freddy as well. Andrew McCutchen is three for four against him with a RBI.
Phillies’ Starting Pitcher: Chase Anderson
Yes, that Chase Anderson. The Brewers will face off against their former pitcher for the first time since he left Milwaukee. Anderson is off to a slow start, going 1-3 with a 5.40 ERA. In Milwaukee, Anderson was 38-27 with a 3.83 ERA in four seasons.
Kolten Wong, a former Cardinal, as faced Anderson 16 times. However, he only has a .125 average against him. Jackie Bradley Jr., on the other hand, has a .375 average with two home runs in eight at bats against him.
