After a brief stint in the bullpen earlier this month, Adrian Houser is ready to return to the starting rotation for the Milwaukee Brewers. According to a tweet by @CyrtHogg, Houser will be back on the mound on Thursday to face the New York Mets.
Houser, who had been moved to the bullpen in June, made two relief appearances during his time there. However, the Brewers have decided to give him another opportunity as a starter, with left-hander Wade Miley getting the start on Wednesday.
During his seven starts this season, Houser had shown some inconsistency, posting a 4.33 ERA. It’s worth noting that this figure is somewhat inflated due to a couple of challenging outings against Toronto and Oakland. If we exclude those two starts, Houser’s ERA drops significantly to 2.00.
The inconsistency in Houser’s performance was the primary reason behind his move to the bullpen. However, following a few solid appearances in relief, Brewers manager Craig Counsell has decided to reinstate Houser in the starting rotation. Thursday’s game will provide an opportunity to see which version of Adrian Houser shows up on the mound.
