Even off the field, Jace Peterson is making an impact. It was announced Thursday morning that Peterson was selected as the Brewers’ recipient of the MLBPAA Heart and Hustle Award.
What is it?
The Heart and Hustle Award as per MLB is “voted on by Alumni and active Major League players and is presented annually to an active player who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit, and traditions of the game.”
Last year’s recipient for the Brewers was Willy Adames, and rightfully so. Demonstrating what it means to be a true baseball player, having love and dedication for the sport. If we’re looking at how Peterson displays heart and hustle on the field? The nickname “On Base Jace” speaks for itself.
Unfortunately, Peterson is currently on the IL with an elbow strain. Despite this, in the 80 games he has appeared in, he is slashing .252/.325/.439 with an OPS of .764, eight homers and 30 driven in. Even though he’s only been a Brewer for about two years now, he has made a positive impact to the team.
Moreover, Peterson is the versatile guy teams look for; Put him anywhere in the field and he’ll perform. As the crew battles through injuries, it’s tough not being able to have Jace Peterson in the lineup. Nonetheless, Brewers fans know that once he returns, he’s gonna continue to get on base.
Congratulations to Jace Peterson! No one displays heart and hustle like you do.
The overall Heart and Hustle Award winner is announced in mid-November, according to MLB.
