Winter Meetings are here! The meetings are being held in person this year for the first time since 2019. This allows countless names across baseball to all be in one place simultaneously. On Monday, Craig Counsell got the opportunity to do an interview with MLB Network. He did so while wearing a Bob Uecker shirt.

When asked about his shirt, Counsell had an incredible quote regarding why he wore it.
“Bob Uecker’s a beautiful man, I always want to have him close to me … so I decided to spice things up a little bit.”
Here are some other key quotes from MLB Network’s interview with Brewers manager Craig Counsell.
As expected, Counsell was asked about the Josh Hader trade. He did not say anything that has not been said previously by Brewers upper management. Ultimately, he indicated that the organization did not fully anticipate the impact it would have on the club and that they take responsibility for this.
His full response is below.

Counsell was also asked about acquiring Jesse Winker. He indicates that the Brewers believe that he will return to form and is poised for a big season in Milwaukee.
Counsell on getting Winker: “We think it’s a really big bat. He didn’t have a great season last year but he’s had some really big seasons and we think he’s ready for a big season.”

Lastly, a question was asked regarding what it feels like to be a member of the Brewers organization at Winter Meetings knowing that other teams were going to be making huge moves involving lots of money. Counsell had a pretty generic response. It’s more interesting that he was even asked that question in the first place.
