Boom
On Tuesday, Fond du Lac High School star Braelon Allen announced his commitment to the Badgers. Allen picked the Badgers over a final six choices of the following schools: Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. The 2019 Max-Preps High School All-American becomes the first known commitment for the class of 2022.
Impact
This is a huge pickup for Jim Leonhard and the defense. The highly-touted safety should be able to pair nicely with Muskego native and 2021 commit Hunter Wohler. Already listed at 6’2 220lbs, there is no question that he could see the field early in his career. Allen is a thumper, who like Wohler is not afraid to be aggressive to the ball. Though Allen could end up as a linebacker (a position of wealth for UW), it was imperative they secure the impact playmakers in their backyard.
Who’s Next?
Wisconsin just got one domino to fall in the “Super-6” 2022 instate class. A decorated group that features six 247Sports 4 stars, with offers from the top schools across the country (More here). It will be definitely be something to monitor going forward who will shut down their recruitment early and join Allen to be a part of the class. If I was a betting man, I would go with Carson Hinzman or Joe Brunner. Two special lineman with impressive offer lists from inside the state.
