Heroic Legends of Wisconsin Teams Wisconsin is not short of beloved sports teams, and over the years some titans have played for the state. Here are some of the most legendary athletes that played for teams from Wisconsin. Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers Favre’s role as a quarterback in the NFL lasted for 20 seasons, and for most of that time, he was with the Green Bay Packers of Wisconsin. By the end of his career in 2010, Brett Favre had amassed an impressive collection of stats including a league record of 321 consecutive starts (297 of which…
When Tom Brady left the New England Patriots to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there was, of course, the expectation that the undoubted quality he possesses, being arguably the best quarterback in the history of the game, would help the franchise push for a first postseason outing in 12 seasons but clearly, the veteran has exceeded those initial goals. Having helped the Buccaneers to a first Super Bowl in 18 years, in his first season, the 44-year-old has now set his sights on back-to-back titles, and thus far, it appears that such an endeavor is certainly a plausible target. Despite…
The Green Bay Packers have announced that they will be selling shares, starting November 16th. The shares will go for $300/share. There are only 300,000 spots to become a shareholder available. It was announced last month that the NFL approved them to sell shares so it was only a matter of time before they did. The last time the Packers did this, it was back in 2011 coming off their Super Bowl win over the Steelers. As Always Follow me on twitter @Jcsirianni for more Wisconsin sports coverage. If Fanduel’s NBA daily fantasy sports were around back in the 1970s, we all could have made a lot of money by placing bets with every team member in the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1971 the LA Lakers created their biggest point margin of 63! A win unmatched by any other combination of players in the Laker’s arsenal. Although this game is well known by Laker fans, what other massive wins have the Lakers created? 1. Los Angeles Lakers vs Golden State Warriors – 162 to 99. 63-Point Margin Not only did this game create a massive 63 point margin,…
After bringing home the first NBA Championship to Milwaukee in 50 years, the Milwaukee Bucks agree to a long-term extension with General Manager Jon Horst. Notable signings, trades, and awards Apart from being the GM on the World Champion Milwaukee Bucks, Jon Horst was the 2019 Executive of the Year. He was the mastermind behind getting Brook Lopez, Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, and so many more. He is also the one who signed Brook, Giannis, Jrue, Khris Middleton, and more, to extensions; keeping the main core together. Implications Extending Jon Horst was the right move. He has given…
As we head into week 6, the Packers are preparing for their first matchup with the Bears. Aaron Rodgers 22-5 (post season included) all-time against the Bears. The quarterback position is easily the most important position in the league today. 2015 was the last time a team won the Super Bowl with bad quarterback play, but they still had Payton Manning. Doug Flutie talked about his time with the Patriots and what his “perfect quarterback” is, so I will be doing the same. Durability As the saying goes, “the best ability is availability”. There is one quaterback in the history of the NFL whose durability is unmatched: Brett Favre. Brett Favre still owns the record for most consecutive starts (321). That breaks down to 297 regular season…
If anyone could predict the form of a team at the beginning of the season, you’d swear it was the former Harvard economist and current quarterback for the Washington Football Team- Ryan Fitzpatrick. As an economist, and on-field talent, he’s one of the most likely exponents of the game to be able to detect patterns and see some sort of logical progression or regression where the rest of us can’t see anything at all. But as he said, the one thing that he’s learned the most since suiting up for the NFL is that you always have to expect the…
The Green Bay Packers took on the New Orleans Saints in week one. The Packers were beat down 38-3. Here are the week one winners and losers. Winners Mason Crosby You might be wondering “how can a guy who only scored three points be a winner?” Well, that’s because those three points were the only ones they scored all game. Crosby made his one and only attempt and that was good enough to make the list. Davante Adams Davante Adams finished with five receptions for 56 yards. Although that is below expectations for him, that is the best offensive…
