It’s still months away from the season, but the Wisconsin Badgers learned their 2022-2023 Big Ten opponents. Dates and times are still to be determined, but we now have an idea of what to expect when conference play arrives.
The Opponents
In the Big Ten Season, the Badgers will face Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Penn State twice. I do like the set up in the this for Wisconsin.
Wisconsin gets Michigan State, Purdue, and Rutgers once but at home. On the other side, the Badgers have to face Indiana, Nebraska, and Ohio State only on the road.
Initial Thoughts
If I’m a Wisconsin fan, I like this schedule setup. Without diving deep into each roster, we know Indiana, Purdue, and Michigan are the early favorites next season in the Big Ten. All three teams return a ton of talent, especially at the center position. Wisconsin struggled against Zach Edey, Hunter Dickinson, and Trayce Jackson-Davis. Steven Crowl will have a full year of experience under his belt so these will be intriguing matchups.
Like this past season, there is a ton of question marks surrounding this Badger team. However, teams such as Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Maryland all lost a ton of talent and leadership. Northwestern and Penn State are both wild card teams. We don’t know if these teams will bounce back or regress with the amount of experience on each team.
