Even though the Milwaukee Bucks exited the playoffs early this year, the franchise will still be part of the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. And like in years past, the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led team won’t be neck-deep into the lottery like the worst teams this season.
And speaking of the worst teams, that honor belonged to the Detroit Pistons after the team finished with 14 wins and 68 losses. The Washington Wizards followed them with a 15-67 record, while the Charlotte Hornets and Portland Trail Blazers were tied in with the third worst thanks to their 21-61 standing in their respective conferences.
But even though these teams had better chances of landing the top pick, it was the Atlanta Hawks that went home with it. The Trae Young-led team finished the regular season with a 36-46 record and almost made the playoffs via the Play-In Tournament. Fortunately, their three percent chance to land the first pick panned out well for the franchise.
After Atlanta, the Wizards, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Pistons, Hornets, and Trail Blazers get the second to seventh pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Spurs go again at eighth, with the Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls rounding up the top ten.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Picks In The 2024 NBA Draft
While Atlanta went home with the number one pick in the upcoming draft, the Bucks didn’t actually go home empty handed. They are set to receive the 23rd pick in the first round, a selection that came originally from the New Orleans Pelicans. In turn, the Pels will pick at 21st as part of a swap that originated from the Jrue Holiday trade they did in 2020.
In the second round, Milwaukee is slated to get either the 33rd or 34 pick via the Portland Trail Blazers. Moreover, the second round of the draft will be a separate event from the first round, which will occur on June 27, 2024.
It remains to be seen which two athletes Milwaukee will choose in the draft. With the team entering into a crucial offseason, a lot of eyes will be on how the front office will use these picks to come out strong for next season.
