Allen Lazard speaks after signing with the Jets
The New York Jets are set to sign Allen Lazard this week after the two parties agreed to terms. The Green Bay Packers free agent wide receiver is seen as a player that could entice Aaron Rodgers to agree to a trade with the Jets. Lazard has been a member of the Packers since the 2018 season when he was signed off the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. He then became a Packers fan favorite.
Lazard was expected to move on from Green Bay this offseason. The Packers’ cap situation will lead them to rebuild a new, younger core for the Jordan Love era. Lazard understands the business aspect of leaving Green Bay, but he gave a special message to Packers fans after agreeing to the Jets’ offer.
Lazard’s Twitter post
Allen Lazard posted a message Wednesday morning to Packers fans and thanked them for having his back in Green Bay. He also thanked the organization for giving him a chance:
“The past four years have been a roller coaster of emotions for me. Since day one Packer fans have always had my back. Y’all have never failed to impress me with your overwhelming love and support, no matter where we played.
from being cut…to the Packers organization giving me a chance, I’d like to thank my coaches and teammates that I shared the field with the last four years. It’s been an honor to represent the “G” and to rock the green and gold with each and every one of you.
I’ll cherish the history we made and the relationships I’ve built the most. I’m so thankful for my unwavering support and love from my family and friends I would not be here today without you, thank you! #ATT”

While many Packers will be bummed he’s not in Green Bay; it’s fair to say most fans in Wisconsin will wish Lazard the best on Sundays next fall.
