Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets did some work prior to the 2023 NFL Trade Deadline. With the actual announcement that the Jets expect Aaron Rodgers back this season coming today, the Jets decided to add a multiple time pro-bowler that will make Aaron Rodgers happy.
The New York Jets Sign Multiple-Time Pro-Bowler Rodger Saffold Prior To The NFL Trade Deadline
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Jets have signed offensive guard Rodger Saffold to their practice squad with the intention of promoting him to the active roster as soon as possible.
During his three seasons in Tennessee, Saffold played for Jets offensive line coach Keith Carter.
Saffold started 16 games at left guard for the Bills last season, earning his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection. There were seven penalties accepted against him and two sacks allowed.
In his 13-year career, he has also played left tackle and right guard.
He played nine years for the Rams, three with the Titans, and one with the Bills after entering the NFL as a second round pick of the Rams in 2010.
This Signing Is Good News For Aaron Rodgers
The Jets’ offensive line struggles have been on full display all season long. Pressure on Aaron Rodgers is actually what caused his injury in Week One.
This signing should make Zach Wilson and Aaron Rodgers both happy. Additionally, with Rodgers expected to return before the end of the season, the Jets would like to get in “playoff shape” as soon as possible.
