The Green Bay Packers decided to move on from one of their most talented players in franchise history during the 2023 off-season. It was a decision that came with a ton of scrutiny at the time, however, one full year since and most Packers fans are excited for the current state of the team.
Aaron Rodgers on the other hand is looking forward to getting back on the field and showing he can still compete for a Super Bowl. This off-season hasn’t been easy for his front office according to multiple reports.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Reportedly Causing Problems For The Jets’ Front Office
As reported by NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Aaron Rodgers caused the Jets serious problems because he was “off the grid” when these discussions began about his potential political career, and the Jets were not aware of his plans.” According to. Kevin Harrish of Next Impulse Sports:
“The distraction might have been momentary, but it was significant. The Jets had no idea what he was planning to do. He was off the grid. Johnson and others in the organization’s brain trust spent a few days wondering whether Rodgers would try to campaign while playing, or whether he’d just walk away from football altogether,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk.
Obviously, Rodgers was not ultimately named as the running mate for RFK Jr. as he went in a different direction instead. So Rodgers will be returning to the Jets and dedicating his full efforts to football, after all.
But it sounds like the team was at least a little bit nervous.
The Jets Will Look To Get Back On Track In 2024
Wide Receiver Mike Williams, a contest catch demon and downfield threat, has been signed by the Jets to provide Aaron Rodgers with more weapons. This signing is exciting, even though Williams tore his ACL early last year and will miss most of training camp.
Despite being superstars at their positions, neither Breece Hall nor Garrett Wilson want every touch and target for the sake of their longevity. It is still essential that the Jets add a receiver and have depth at the offensive line to avoid Allen Lazard and Carter Warren becoming starters by week three. This is where the draft and early-summer free-agent signings will play an important role.
Packers fans will once again be keeping at eye on how the Jets and Rodgers do this year. It will likely be that way until the future hall of famer hangs up his cleats for good.
