As the sports world knows by now, Aaron Rodgers will return to the Green Bay Packers in 2022. The defending back-to-back MVP will return with Davante Adams, on whom the Packers placed the franchise tag. Along with the reports that Aaron Rodgers would be back with Green Bay were details of his new contract. According to Ian Rapoport, the Packers and Rodgers agreed to a four-year $200 million contract.
The #Packers and MVP QB Aaron Rodgers have agreed to terms on a 4-year, $200M deal that makes him the highest paid player in NFL history, sources say. He gets a whopping $153M guaranteed and his cap number goes down. A monstrous commitment by GB for years to come. 💰 💰 💰

The immense value of the deal sparked multiple criticisms on social media from Packers and non-Packers fans alike.
Well, the GB Packers have finally called Aaron Rodgers to account for his covid misbehavior.
$200 million for a 4 year contract.
If he had been truthful, he would have gotten a $400 million contract.
Glad to see him suffer so much.#FreshVoicesRise— James McPartland (@wingdigit) March 8, 2022
Aaron Rodgers lied about his vaccination status, spread misinformation, and then tried to gaslight everyone into believing he was the victim.
He just signed the biggest NFL contract in history with $153M guaranteed.
That’ll teach him.

Pat McAfee States the Contract Details Are False
If there was any member of the media who would know anything about Aaron Rodgers and his dealings, it would be Pat McAfee. After all, over the past two seasons, Rodgers has appeared on his show weekly during the NFL regular season. Shortly after Rapoport’s report on the contract, McAfee took to Twitter to state that the numbers were false.
News of a “4 year $200,000,000 Million deal” is not accurate… according to my sources 🤷🏼♂️

McAfee’s “sources,” of course is Aaron Rodgers himself.
Aaron Rodgers Himself Clarifies His Decision
Aaron Rodgers is not one to post on social media very often. However, he took to Twitter today to make a clarifying statement. He stated that he was, indeed, returning to the Green Bay Packers in 2022. However, he also stated that any news of any contract was false.
Hey everyone, just wanted to clear some things up; YES I will be playing with the @packers next year, however, reports about me signing a contract are inaccurate, as are the supposed terms of the contract I “signed”. I’m very excited to be back 💪🏼 #year18❤️

Will Aaron Rodgers sign a new contract? It is a foregone conclusion that he will, especially with Davante Adams being tagged. Rodgers was due to have a cap hit of $46 million this season. That hit would account for more than 25% of the Packers’ payroll, all but prohibiting them from making any other moves.
What are the terms of the new deal? They have not been made known to the public, and may not have even been agreed upon yet. However, Rodgers is back and the Super Bowl window is still wide open.
