The Milwaukee Brewers first spring training game is Saturday February 25, 2023. They will play against the Los Angeles Dodgers to begin Cactus League play and the first pitch is scheduled for 2:10 CT. This year, there are a lot of new players on the Brew Crews 40-man roster and we will get to see a few of them in action during the teams first game.
The Brewers announced their pitching plan for the first spring training game. This includes a few new players to the organization.
Craig Counsell says it’ll be Robert Stock, Elvis Peguero, Tyson Miller, Tobias Myers and Alex Claudio for the Brewers’ Cactus League opener against the Dodgers tomorrow.
WBC positional players will see action as well, except for Luis Urias.

Stock, a right-handed reliever, is scheduled to get the start for the Brewers. He is a 33 year old experienced pitcher who spent the 2022 season in the Korean Baseball Organization. As a member of the Doosan Bears he covered 165 innings and had a 3.60 ERA. His fastball tends to sits in the mid to upper 90’s. Stock is currently on a Minor League deal with the Brewers.
Peguero was one of the three pitchers included in the Hunter Renfroe trade package. He is on the Brewers 40-man roster and has two MiLB options left. On the mound, Peguero’s sinker averages out at 96 MPH and his slider 91 MPH. There is a lot to like about his traits on the mound, so he should be a fun player to see pitch live.
The Brewers claimed Tyson Miller off waivers in November. He has just six games of Major League experience and has served as both a starting pitcher and reliever in the Minor Leagues. It will be interesting to see if Milwaukee keeps his arm extended during spring training or if he will be used as a reliever in 2023.
Tobias Myers is a 24 year old who is on a Minor League contract with the Brewers. The former sixth round draft pick has bounced around between quite a few organizations throughout his career including the Orioles, Rays, Guardians, Giants, and White Sox. He has not yet made his MLB debut.
Last up is a familiar face in left-handed reliever Alex Claudio. Claudio previously spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons with Milwaukee. He has now returned on a MiLB deal. The Brewers depth in regards to left-handed relievers is currently limited, so a good spring training could put him back in the Major Leagues.
