All right Brewers’ fans, it’s time for redemption weekend! Our brew crew will be taking on the Miami Marlins in a 3 game weekend series in Miami. Who better than Brent Suter to come on and try to add a spark. In my opinion, the Marlins are probably one of the sneakiest teams in baseball that cannot be taken lightly. If you don’t play your absolute best, they will take advantage of that and beat you. That was in full display just last week when the Marlins took the 3 game series against the Brewers 2 games to 1. The crew will be looking to write that this weekend down in Miami.
There is no secret that the Brewers are coming off a miserable week in Philadelphia as the Phillies swept the Brewers in their 4 game series. The only good thing I can take from the Phillies series is that they weren’t blown out in any of the games. They only lost by one run in 3 of the 4 games, and got shut out 2-0 in the series finale. I’m expecting the Brewers to win this weekend series with 2 wins but it won’t be easy. Especially since they have played 14 games in a row coming into tonight.
Brewers’ Game One Starter: Brent Suter
Like I said before. Who better than Brent Suter to try and create a spark for this team. After having a stellar performance coming out of the bullpen, Brent Suter will be making his first start of the season in game one on Friday night. Suter, coming out of the bullpen to start the season, has posted a 2-1 record with a 2.70 ERA. 2021 is shaping up to be Brent Suters breakout year, and with the starting rotation banged up, we get to see if his bullpen success can translate to the starting rotation. With Suter on the mound, expect him to work fast as he always does. It can also be pretty entertaining with him on the bump, whether he is falling down randomly trying to pitch, or making highlight defensive plays. There is honestly nobody in baseball like this man. He may not be our ace, but he sure is our gem.
This is only Brent Suter’s 4th time facing the Marlins in his career. He has given up 6 runs, 11 hits, 3 home runs, and has 8 strikeouts. The man who has seen him the most in the Marlins lineup, is Adam Duvall. Duvall has seen Suter 8 times in his career. Against him, Suter has only allowed 2 hits, 1 home run, and a .250 batting average.
Marlins’ Game One Starter: Trevor Rogers
The Marlins will be countering with rookie Trevor Rogers in game one. Trevor Rogers has been very impressive in his first 6 starts this season. He is 3-2 with a 1.91 ERA. Trevor Rogers faced the Brewers on April 26, and in that game he went 6 innings, gave up 6 hits, 0 runs, and struck out 7 batters. He also got the win with his efforts. This is only his second start against the Brewers. The player he needs to worry about the most is Kolton Wong. He saw Rogers 4 times in that April 26 game and had 3 hits off of him.
