The Wisconsin football staff has been busy already scouting potential transfer options, and the newest target is perhaps the best player available.
Will Howard, the former starting quarterback for the Kansas State Wildcats, has announced he will enter the transfer portal. Howard was recruited as a three-star pro-style quarterback to the Wildcats in the 2020 recruiting class. The quarterback took over the starting job this past season and led the Wildcats to an 8-4 record, claiming the #25 spot in the rankings.

The Wisconsin football staff while it has been led by Head Coach Luke Fickell has had no issues putting themselves into the depths of the transfer portal. Wisconsin believes in finding the right players with the right play-style over filling a roster with the largest amount of talent possible.
When it comes to putting the right players on the field, Wisconsin football has been eyeing a new quarterback for the 2024 campaign. After putting up 33 total touchdowns and 3007 total yards this past season, Will Howard announced he would leave the university and enter the transfer portal. Currently, Howard is ranked as a four-star transfer and the top overall player available.
Coming in at 6-foot-5-inches, 245-pounds, Howard has a big frame and a strong arm as a quarterback. As a rusher, Howard is versatile and while he can make people miss, he also does not shy away from contact. The talented quarterback recorded nine rushing touchdowns this past season, including a 70-yard breakaway.
Wisconsin football recorded 15 total touchdowns from the quarterback position this year, which is less than half of the production of Howard alone. While starter Tanner Mordecai was not fully healthy this season, his play was still severely below what the team had expected out of him. Adding Howard could be a pivotal move for the Badgers due to how close his play-style is to what the team needs.

Wisconsin football has been tied to Will Howard, but the likelihood of them landing the quarterback is pretty slim at the moment. Howard is currently the top transfer in the portal and will likely have the majority of quarterback-needy programs reaching out to him.
The production of Howard this past season will also make him a hot commodity in the transfer portal. Wisconsin football will need to work hard to potentially land Howard in the future.
