The Wisconsin football staff has turned their focus towards recruiting and the upcoming bowl game following their victory over Minnesota.
Wisconsin has already found their way back into the transfer portal after contacting former Texas A&M wide receiver Raymond Cottrell. Now, the Badgers may look towards another successful player who has entered the portal due to his ties to the current staff. Former Cincinnati Bearcats running back Myles Montgomery could become the next target for Wisconsin football.
Wisconsin Football: Transfer Portal Madness Already Underway for the Badgers Staff

With the Wisconsin football staff shifting much of their focus towards off-field issues, the possibility of transfers entering the program is becoming real. The Badgers have already been busy contacting many players who have recently entered the transfer portal. While they have already contacted quite a few players, a player with perhaps the closest ties to the staff entered the portal.

Myles Montgomery, a former three-star recruit in the 2021 recruiting class, announced his intentions of transferring following a 3-9 season in the Big 12. The Cincinnati Bearcats struggled mightily in their first season in their new conference, without former Head Coach Luke Fickell. Montgomery carried the ball 66 times for 428 yards and three touchdowns as the backup running back.
The talented running back lost the potential starting spot to LSU transfer Corey Kiner, who saw more carries than Montgomery the past two seasons. Montgomery will now enter the transfer portal with three seasons of eligibility still remaining, which could significantly boost his value.
Coming in at 5-foot-10-inches, 205-pounds, Montgomery is a versatile back that can provide both speed and power out of the backfield. The running back averaged 6.5 yards per carry this past season with a long of 63-yards. His career longest rush is 76-yards, which occurred last season as Montgomery broke away for a long touchdown.
Will the Wisconsin Badgers Football Staff Look for Depth at Running Back with Myles Montgomery?

While the Wisconsin football team may have an abundance of running backs at the moment, time will still tell whether or not star Braelon Allen will remain with the team. Allen capped off perhaps his final game as a Badger with two touchdowns and a victory over Minnesota. Wisconsin may now try to find a player who can replicate a chunk of the production that Allen maintained.
Whether or not Allen declares for the NFL Draft could certainly impact their decisions moving forward, but regardless the Wisconsin staff will likely add another running back. With ties already to the program and staff, Montgomery might be the best available option for Wisconsin.
