The Wisconsin football program made another big splash last week landing a highly coveted transfer portal target in QB Tanner Mordecai. Mordecai’s numbers speak for themselves and he brings some experience to the Badgers’ QB room. In a recent podcast interview, Mordecai talked about why he chose the Badgers.
Tanner Mordecai Reveals Why He Chose Wisconsin
Once he announced his decision, Mordecai’s phone started blowing up. Wisconsin was not the only team that wanted Mordecai to run their offense. He described the experience as “pretty crazy” and he had multiple offers quickly. However, he indicated it did not take him long to make a decision. He chose the Badgers primarily because of his interest in new OC Phil Longo. He clearly saw what Longo did with Sam Howell and Drake Maye in North Carolina.
Luke Fickell Building A Great Staff
While we all have been fawning over Luke Fickell for his ability to land high-level recruits, we have to laud his coaching staff hires. His ability to get Phil Longo to come over to Madison literally got them a top transfer portal target. It helped that Longo had a previous relationship with Mordecai as he recruited him out of high school while at Old Miss. Mordecai called him, “one of the top offensive minds in college football right now.” This is high praise for Longo and it’s clear what players think of his offensive scheme.
Everything seems to be going right for the Wisconsin football program right now. Each decision seems to open more doors to other recruits or coaches. As the college football season wraps up, Badgers’ fans are already ready for next season to kick off.
