The Wisconsin football staff hosted one of their top 2025 recruiting targets today and impressed the four-star lineman with what they have to offer.
Owen Strebig, a 2025 four-star offensive lineman, is considered to be the top recruit in the state of Wisconsin in his recruiting class. Strebig and Notre Dame football commitment James Flanigan held the top two rankings in the state for most of the year. Wisconsin football was unable to land Flanigan in the past, but the staff could secure hold of their state with a commitment from Strebig.
Wisconsin Football Staff Hosts and Impresses Top In-State Recruit Owen Strebig
The Wisconsin football staff has long been after the coveted four-star recruit out of Waukesha, Wisconsin. Owen Strebig currently ranks as the top recruit in the state and the 124th recruit nationally. Strebig is also ranked as the 12th offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class.
Strebig has visited the Wisconsin football staff and the Madison campus five times over the past three years. The Badgers were one of the first programs to heavily scout and recruit Strebig, and still remain deep in the conversation. However, despite his ties to the state and the staff in Madison, Strebig also has another program that he has been eyeing for some time.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have had plenty of success recruiting in the state of Wisconsin over the past few years. The talented offensive lineman made five visits to the Fighting Irish last year alone, with the most recent visit coming in October. Notre Dame has not been able to schedule another visit with the offensive tackle just yet, but his recruitment may end before they have a chance to.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Nearing Potential Commitment from Top 2025 Target
The Wisconsin football staff may have lost some ground to the Fighting Irish in the past, but the Badgers have increased their recruiting efforts as of late. Wisconsin invited Owen Strebig to spend this past weekend with the staff as he visits the campus and continues to bond with the team.
While it is one visit out of many, Strebig received plenty of time to sit down with the staff and speak to them following their recent recruiting success. There is no ‘sure thing’ in the recruiting world so Strebig is still very much a question mark. However, the success of this visit might be what the Badgers needed to convince the recruit.
