The Wisconsin Badgers had a former starting quarterback make an impressive debut in the XFL this past weekend. The San Antonio Brahmas have a four-year Wisconsin Badgers quarterback on their roster. While the Brahmas lost 15-18 in their season opener, former Badgers quarterback Jack Coan had an impressive debut.
Former Wisconsin Badgers Quarterback Jack Coan Makes Impressive Debut
The San Antonio Brahmas lost to the St. Louis Battlehawks on Sunday 18-15 loss. These were Coan’s stats during the Brahmas loss:
- 25 completions
- 36 attempts
- 69.4% completion rate
- 207 passing yards
- One passing touchdown
- One Interception
- Four rushing attempts for 10 yards
Coan was the final quarterback taken in the XFL draft in November. He earned the starting job over Reid Sinnett (San Diego), Jawon Pass (Prairie View A&M) and Anthony Russo (Michigan State). Jack Coan (24 years old) spent four seasons as a member of the Wisconsin Badgers (2017-2020). His most notable season came in 2019. Coan started 14 games that season racking up 2,727 passing yards and 18 passing touchdowns. He led the Wisconsin Badgers to a 10-4 record and a Rose Bowl appearance versus Oregon. Jack Coan spent his final season in college with Notre Dame after the Wisconsin Badgers moved on to Graham Mertz at QB in 2020. Coan eventually went un-drafted in the 2022 NFL draft. He spent time with the Indianapolis Colts in the spring before being waived in the preseason.
