The Wisconsin Badgers football team has secured another official visit, with this one coming from a certain 2024 three-star corner back.

Jalen Todd, a 2024 three-star corner back from Missouri, has been an Iowa Hawkeyes recruiting target for quite some time. While the Badgers have also been involved with the recruit, it seemed as though Iowa was sure to land Todd. The Hawkeyes are still leading in the recruitment of Todd, but with the visit secured, Wisconsin might be able to sway the recruit.

With much of the 2024 recruiting class beginning to pick their collegiate destinations, the Badgers have narrowed in on a handful of recruits they feel are still standout in this class. Among those players is the talented corner back Jalen Todd from Southfield, Michigan. The 6-foot tall, 170-pound athlete is currently ranked as the ninth overall recruit in Michigan and the 45th corner back in the class. Despite his size, Todd also has the ability to roam the top of the field as a safety.

Todd currently has 31 total scholarship offers including Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Auburn among plenty of others. Thus far, Kansas and Iowa have been the two main teams battling for Todd. Wisconsin joined the recruitment of Todd rather late since the team did not offer a scholarship until May 16th. Todd already had official visits set for both Kansas and Iowa, in that order, before scheduling his Wisconsin visit.

At this time, history is not on the Badgers side, as Donovan Harbour, Dillan Johnson, and Marcus Harrison had all scheduled official visits before visiting Madison. Each recruit subsequently became a verbal commitment for the programs they had their first scheduled visits with. Obviously recruiting is quite a vast world and these commitments could be unfortunate coincidences. However, the Badgers still need to ensure they prove that Madison has the best to offer before the recruits make it to campus.

Wisconsin Badgers Football Recruiting Profile: Jalen Todd

The exceptional corner back, Jalen Todd, is a versatile ball hawk for the defense. Todd loves to play the ball in the air and has an incredible play-making ability when doing so. Todd is also fantastic at reading the quarterback and moving to where the next play is going to be. In coverage, the receivers often struggle to gain separation from Todd due to his speed and body control.

As a recruit, Todd still needs to develop in two main aspects of his game before reaching the collegiate level. The corner back is not the best slot corner and often gets beat in those situations, but does show great promise. Todd also needs to continue to build his frame. At 170-pounds, the corner back struggles against bigger receivers, especially in the air. If Todd can add to his frame while keeping his speed, he should become a lethal corner in deep ball situations.

The Wisconsin Badgers, now under the guidance of Luke Fickell, will be an aggressive team in all aspects of play. For the Badgers to achieve this goal of theirs, they will need to recruit the right players in order to create that culture. Adding Jalen Todd could be a step in the right direction as his play style would fit what Fickell is looking for on his team.
