The Green Bay Packers running back room received a major shakeup in the 2024 offseason. The Packers brought in Josh Jacobs for 48 million dollars, subsequently releasing rushing leader Aaron Jones. As Green Bay goes into the 2024-25 season looking to make a step up into contention they not only need their new star RB to perform. but their relief backs as well.
The Green Bay Packer’s running back depth shows promise with preseason standout Emmanuel Wilson and quick-footed rookie Marshawn Lloyd. Still, the expected number two option has reportedly come into training camp looking more in shape than ever.
Green Bay Packers 2nd Round Pick Looks To Take A Leap In Production
Algiers Jameal ‘AJ’ Dillon is the all-time-leading rushing yards leader for Boston College with 4,382 yards, drafted with the 62nd pick to the Green Bay Packers in 2020. In his tenure behind Aaron Jones, Dillon displayed serviceable traits with middle-of-the-road output. In 2023, Dillon posted 613 yards on just 3.4 yards per carry (43rd leaguewide).
The 6’0 245 RB is nicknamed Quadzilla with a frame that matches. In the 2024 offseason, Dillon looks to be in his best form at just 26 years old. So much so that even head coach Matt Lafleur has publicly taken notice.
“This is the best I’ve seen him. Hands down,” LaFleur said. “I was joking with him the other day. You can see the abs on him. That’s hard for a big man to do. He looks like he’s in great shape.”
Longtime Green Bay Packers writer Wes Hodkiewicz clued people into how Dillon has upgraded his body.
“The fifth-year veteran was already in a good shape, having played last season at 250 pounds and roughly 8-9% body fat, but he wanted to take things to another level.
So, Dillon cut carbs, amped up the grassfed beef, traded soda for water with meals, and picked up a WHOOP band to track his sleep patterns, recovery and respiratory rate.”- Hodkiewicz wrote

With the regular season quickly approaching, the Green Bay Packers offense would be leveled up if Josh Jacobs and AJ Dillon were the best versions of themselves.
