Only days after the Wisconsin Badgers football staff offered a talented 2025 athlete and landed his commitment, a rival school sent an offer as well.
Cody Haddad, a 2025 three-star recruit who committed to the Wisconsin Badgers just last week, received a scholarship offer from the rival Ohio State Buckeyes staff. Haddad, an Ohio native, had previously not been in close contact with the Buckeyes staff. However, this scholarship offer could potentially change the mind of the recruit following his commitment.
Wisconsin Badgers Football Commitment Receives Intriguing Scholarship Offer from Ohio State Buckeyes

Cody Haddad is a versatile athlete in the 2025 recruiting class that can play both offense and defense. The Wisconsin football staff has recruited and landed the commitment of Haddad as a safety. Wisconsin had not been in the picture for very long before they were able to receive the commitment from the athlete.
In the wild world of recruiting, just because a recruit committed to a school does not mean they are locked in. Schools often offer or check-in on committed recruits to potentially flip the athlete’s commitments. Shortly after Haddad committed to Wisconsin, the Ohio State Buckeyes football staff offered a scholarship to him.
A Twist of Fate: Can the Wisconsin Football Staff Hold Onto 2025 Commitment Cody Haddad?

At the time of his commitment, Haddad held 16 scholarship offers but has since received four more. Iowa, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Minnesota all offered Haddad a scholarship after his commitment to the Wisconsin Badgers became official.
While other schools also offered Haddad a scholarship the Buckeyes really stand-out at the moment due to the fact that they are the home state of the athlete.
The Buckeyes currently hold the fifth-ranked 2025 recruiting class with six commitments, including Devin Sanchez, the fourth-ranked recruit in the class. Ohio State also had three safeties sign their letter of intent in the 2024 class as well as landing top-ranked transfer safety Caleb Downs from Alabama.
Wisconsin Badgers Commitment Cody Haddad Holds Strong Connection with Football Staff

While the Ohio State offer might be intriguing to Haddad, the deciding factor for the athlete during his recruitment was his playing time and relationship with the staff. The Wisconsin football staff sees plenty of ways they can use Haddad and multiple different avenues for the player to reach the field as well. Haddad adds enough versatility to the Wisconsin Badgers to play as a cover safety or someone who stacks the box.
At this point in time the Buckeyes do not have the same playing time and options to offer to Haddad, which is likely part of the reason why he did not consider them originally. The Wisconsin staff hopes their connection with Haddad is enough to keep the recruit away from his home team.
