After coming off a difficult 2022-23 season, the Badgers and coach Greg Gard have stressed the importance of getting themselves ready and staying that way. Gard admitted the Badgers struggled to be competitive at times due to a lack of preparation. Now, with the new-found transfer portal success and the big-time scholarship offers, Wisconsin will put their preparation to the test against the Arizona Wildcats in a home-and-home series.
Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Takes On Arizona Wildcats In Home-and-Home Series

This past season after missing the NCAA Tournament, the Wisconsin Badgers accepted their NIT invite in hopes of potentially winning the tournament. However, the Badgers fell short of their ultimate goal after losing to North Texas, 56-54. Wisconsin proved they had a strong team last year at times with wins over Marquette, Maryland, and Iowa. The team struggled for a stretch of games to play complete basketball but reached their best form during the NIT.

While the Badgers may not have met their expectations this past season, coach Greg Gard has been confident that the team can right the ship heading into next season. Wisconsin has added St. John’s transfer guard AJ Storr while still pursuing other potential transfer targets. Now, the Badgers have made a huge announcement by adding another major test to their 2023-24 schedule.
Wisconsin is scheduled to play against Tennessee next season on November 10th, which will be a true test for the experienced Badgers team. The Badgers will play their first game in the series against the Wildcats on December 9th in Tuscon, Arizona. Wisconsin will travel to play against the Wildcats who are coming off their upset loss to Princeton in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats went 28-7 and earned a two seed in the tournament, but lost in the first round 59-55 against the 15th seeded Princeton basketball team.
The Wisconsin basketball schedule is already packed with two strong opponents the Badgers will need to prove themselves against. The Volunteers received a four seed in the NCAA Tournament last year and battled to the Sweet Sixteen before losing to Florida Atlantic University. The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team has said that they are ready for competition, and between the Volunteers and Wildcats the team will have a great opportunity to do so.
Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Schedule Packed With Competition…And There Are Only Two Games Scheduled
Naturally the Badgers will expect great competition within the Big Ten with Iowa, Indiana, Ohio State, Purdue, and Illinois all bound to put out solid teams. A season ago the Badgers also added great out of conference competition with their games against Marquette, USC, and Kansas all proving to be amazing games. Wisconsin has the talent on the team to compete, but their challenge against the Wildcats will test their patience and shot selection.
Arizona is a team that likes to push the pace and often the Wisconsin Badgers tried to go too fast last season. Arizona is an excellent match-up on paper that could produce an amazing game.
