The Packers have one of the best secondaries in football. A trio of Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas, and Eric Stokes will rival the best DB rooms. They don’t have a need at corner until you start to look beyond those three. Their 4th corner as of now is most like Shemer Jean-Charles, a draft pick from last year. Will they look to snag one of these draftees?
Round 1 Trent Mcduffie Washington 5’11” 193 RAS 9.49 View Highlights
2021 stats 35 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 6 pass breakups, 1 sack
Strengths: Plays big for his size. Isn’t afraid of anything or anyone. Quick feet and hips to be able to change direction quickly. Will come up and stick a running back.
Weaknesses: wasn’t asked to play a ton of man in college. That will scare some teams away from him. There isn’t much tape on it. Low interception numbers could scare away teams as he isn’t a “WOW ” play guy in the takeaway category.
Round 2-3 Jalyn Armour-Davis Alabama 6’ 197 RAS 7.17 View Highlights
2021 stats 32 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 4 pass breakups, 3 interceptions
Strengths: fluid hips that allow him to turn and move quickly. Really good press defender that isn’t afraid to get in the chest of a receiver. Long arms and a large catch radius to compete for 50/50 balls
Weaknesses: light frame, might have a tough time in the NFL against stronger receivers. Doesn’t like to come up to the LOS and help in the run game. Stays very focused on his receiver. Occasionally lets receivers get in on him leading to him being off balance and exploited.
Round 2-3 Tariq Woolen UTSA 6’4” 204 RAS 9.71 View Highlights
2021 stats 25 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 5 pass breakups, 1 interception
Strengths: one of the tallest cornerbacks with really good speed and quickness. Athletically shouldn’t have an issue in the NFL. He is fluid in his movements and hips although the technique is very inconsistent. Has natural ball skills when in position to make a play. Large catch radius to compete for 50/50 balls
Weaknesses: Very raw, will require a lot of technical work at the next level. With his size, he occasionally has trouble dropping and making a quick cut to follow a receiver. Has trouble feeling routes in zone coverage, can get lost, and let receivers by him without noticing. Is not a heavy hitter and doesn’t want to help much in the run game.
Round 4-7 Josh Jobe Alabama 6’ 182 RAS N/A View Highlights
2021 stats 38 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 4 pass breakups, 2 interceptions
Strengths: played in an NFL system at Alabama and is a very smart cornerback. Very physical player who isn’t afraid to throw himself around and help in the run game. Good in press about getting his hands on the receiver.
Weaknesses: often over physical, was heavily penalized the past few seasons. Lacks fluidity in hips to turn and run with receivers. Technique fails him at times.
Round 4-7 Matt Hankins Iowa 6’ 185 RAS 1.25 View Highlights
2021 stats 32 tackles, 5 pass breakups, 3 interceptions
Strengths: Can jam a receiver in press. Understand zone responsibility and has a good zone feel when players are coming into his spot. Has ball skills and a good ability at high pointing the ball. Competes on 50/50 balls and is a well-timed jumper. I Want to help in the run game.
Weaknesses: Athletically Hankins could have issues at the next level. His low RAS score is an issue. Slow 40 and low broad jump. Projects to get exploited at the next level on deep routes.
Round 4-7 Brandon Sebastian Boston College 6’1” 169 RAS 3.01 View Highlights
2021 stats 12 tackles, 1 pass break up, 4 interceptions
Strengths: Really good ball skills. Has a solid feel for zone coverage and when an opponent enters his spot. Has shown an ability to bait the QB in zone.
Weaknesses: Does Not have the fluidity to play man and might have a tough time jamming receivers at the next level with his weight. Will have to put on weight to be successful. Not a solid tackler, and shies away from contact.
