Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history. The number of difficult shots Curry has made throughout his career and the unlimited range he has on the basketball court won’t be seen again.
In an interview with Complex Sports, Curry spoke about who he thinks is the best three shooters in the NBA right now (excluding himself). The answers weren’t all that surprising.

This list from Curry isn’t surprising. You could make a case that these are three of the best shooters in the NBA. Klay Thompson has declined since coming back from ACL and Achilles injuries. He can still put them up with the best of them. Thompson had 54 points on 10 of 21 from three against the Atlanta Hawks on January 3. It’ll be hard for Thompson to top the performance against the Indiana Pacers in which he had 60 points in 29 minutes in 2016, but he’s shown flashes he can still be a top-15 player and top-three shooter in this league.
Seth Curry gets overshadowed by his older brother (understandably so). Curry has carved out a niche as one of the best spot-up three-point shooters in the NBA. In his career, Curry has sunk 43.5 percent of his threes and shot a career-high 46 percent for the Brooklyn Nets in the 2021-22 season.
Damian Lillard is the closest thing to Stephen Curry in the NBA. His ability to shoot from anywhere and make clutch shots in big moments is why he and Steph are 1A and 1B.
The thing to remember is that these are three different shooters. Thompson is the greatest stand-alone shooter in NBA History; in his prime, he didn’t run off three screens to get a shot off because his release is a work of art. You don’t see many people block Klay’s shot. Since he gets it off quickly. Seth Curry is better suited as a player who can hit open shots on a drive-and-kick. Damian Lillard creates his magic when he’s shooting. Stephen Curry has had two of the best screeners in the game in Kevon Looney and Draymond Green. Lillard never had that the degree of difficulty on his clutch shots has been larger than Steph’s
Stephen Curry will always be the greatest shooter ever. Thompson, Seth Curry, and Lillard have been elite shooters in the NBA for a long time, and it’s great to hear Curry give these three their flowers.
