Sean Payton will be the next head coach of the Denver Broncos. Of course, he will replace former Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who was hired and then fired after 15 games. Hackett has since taken the job of offensive coordinator with the New York Jets. Payton has not coached in the NFL since he stepped away from the New Orleans Saints at the end of the 2021 season. His name, however, has been thrown around and linked to numerous head coaching jobs throughout the NFL. Given his track record and similar career numbers as a coach, many fans started comparing him to former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.
Former Packers Offensive Lineman TJ Lang Asks a Good Question Regarding Sean Payton
TJ Lang took to Twitter to ask a fair question regarding Sean Payton and Mike McCarthy. The former has been in hot demand for almost a year while the latter seems to constantly be on the hot seat.
Let me ask y’all a question. What’s the difference between Mike McCarthy and Sean Payton? One seems to be thought of as always being on the hot seat and the other one of the best in the league. What’s the difference?

The question sparked a strong response from fans and analysts on social media:
Sean Payton and Mike McCarthy have almost the same records, in both the regular season and playoffs, for what that's worth.

The guy on the left is 161-97 all-time (including playoffs) with nine playoff appearances, one Super Bowl appearance and one NFL championship.
The guy on the right is 166-107-2 with 11 playoff berths, one Super Bowl appearance and one NFL title.

Still waiting to hear why Sean Payton is any better than Mike McCarthy…
Yet again, the Broncos are total fools.

Why is Sean Payton not looked at like Mike McCarthy? Is he worth 20 million dollars? #Saints #NFL pic.twitter.com/aY7msIh8SW

Sean Payton playoff record; 9-8. One Super Bowl win with a future HOF quarterback. Mike McCarthy playoff record; 11-10. One Super Bowl win with a future HOF quarterback. Educate me on how Payton would be better.(Other than TV broadcast skills. )

Really bizarre that people treat Sean Payton like he’s some coaching icon. Trading picks, richest coach contract. Bizarro. The guy’s resume is basically Mike McCarthy. Good coaches sure but all this? Nawwwww
