The Green Bay Packers finally added to their wide receiver room this week. Adding veteran wide receiver Sammy Watkins seemed like a move Green Bay has needed to make for some time. As it turns out Aaron Rodgers had. vital role in the signing of Sammy Watkins.
Internally, Aaron Rodgers was a key proponent of #Packers’ signing Sammy Watkins. He loves his talent.
It’s also my understanding that GB has every intention of finding a couple more WRs in the draft: Skyy Moore, Wan’Dale Robinson, Alec Pierce, Khalil Shakir are all in the mix. https://t.co/Kq4NBfRHaV

Aaron Rodgers made it clear during the 2020 off-season that he wanted to be more apart of the decisions the front office makes. Since then it has been obvious that Brian Gutekunst has reached out to Rodgers for advice on multiple occasions. The Sammy Watkins signing was clearly no different.
Watkins made two of the biggest catches of the season last year for Baltimore. Both set up winning scores against the Lions and Bears. However he had no catches — and just three targets — in his final four games as he fell behind on Baltimore’s depth chart. In his eight-year career, Watkins has totaled 348 receptions for 5,059 yards receiving and 34 touchdown catches for the Bills, Rams, Chiefs, and Ravens.
One thing is for sure, Aaron Rodgers has been right many times in the past about free agent signings. If Sammy Watkins is any indication, he should have a great year in Green Bay. ‘
