3 Potential Packers Targets in the NFL Draft Days Two and Three

With many strong Packers targets, Green Bay could be about to emerge out of the 2024 NFL Draft in a very strong position.

All eyes will be on the franchise this offseason as they will look to try and strengthen their roster and build on a good season that had a lot of changes being experienced at the start. The organization had to begin life without its legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers after he was traded to the New York Jets, as well as their previously employed top cornerback Rasul Douglas after trading him to the Buffalo Bills.

Green Bay had a young team to work with, and Matt LaFleur took them to an NFC Division Round playoff game, building excitement and hype around the Wisconsin team that had been faltering for a while. In fact, there has been so much excitement about their future bettors are using the 1xBet app to place wagers on the team and their potential efforts for a long-awaited Super Bowl title as it continues to provide them with a comprehensive session for all of their sports betting needs.

The NFL 2024 Draft could be the perfect place for Green Bay to build

The Green Bay Packers will enter the 2024 NFL Draft with arguably one of the best pools of draft picks that any franchise could hope for. With the trades of Rodgers and Douglas, they managed to secure five of the first 91 picks that are available in this year’s draft, as well as boasting a total of 11 selections, making it difficult to narrow down some lesser-known Packers targets.

Currently, it is unknown what general manager Brian Gutekunst may opt to do, as he could either use the picks to build the team or give them power in the draft. They could look to trade with other teams to get even stronger picks or acquire further depth in this year’s draft or in those to come in the following years. Nonetheless, regardless of what he decides to do, he and LaFleur will have plenty of options to consider.

Which Packers Targets Are Worth a Strong Look?

Mock draft season is well and truly upon us and there are always several ideas being thrown out about what a team may need and who they should be looking to draft. Some Packers targets are more evident than others, but it can often be a difficult task knowing exactly what the GM and head coach might be looking for.

    NFL Combine

Clues can often be found during the NFL Combine, while gaps caused by releases and free agency trades can often reveal what a team needs. As a result, the Green Bay Packers should probably be looking for players on the offensive line, in coverage, and potentially in the running back position.

Drafting Positional Targets for Days Two and Three

With this in mind, it would not be a surprise to see the team look to target individuals like Tyler Nubin (Safety), Edgerrin Cooper (Linebacker), and Cooper Beebe (Offensive Guard). These three players would help them to solve the issues that were shown throughout the 2023 NFL season and would bolster the options they already have.

    Tyler Nubin

Minnesota safety Tyler Nubin would bring great size to the position. He plays well against the run, plugging holes as needed. He can tackle — hard! He can shrug off blocks well. The question mark is how he would fare in runs-after-catch scenarios.

    Projection: Early Day Three

    Cooper Beebe

Beebe’s huge upper body has the ability to get downfield and block — something that Jordan Love’s offense could really use. The former K-State lineman can take on most linebackers regardless of size and is just quick enough to pick out a well-disguised blitz. He’s a smart player with a lot of potential. How he will do against the speed of NFL edge rushers remains to be seen. Of the Packers targets we looked at, he has some big question marks, but some good upside.

    Projection: Day Two

    Edgerrin Cooper

From TAMU, Cooper would bring decent man-to-man coverage for a linebacker. He can be a handful for offensive linemen with some strong change of direction. He would also do well to plug gaps on run defense. As good as he can be in man coverage, he might need some time to work out NFL zone coverage. We think of the Packers targets we looked at, this one could pan out well.

    Projection: Day Two

Safety will likely become a huge problem for the Packers this offseason, with Darnell Savage Jr., Jonathan Owens and Rudy Ford all becoming unrestricted free agents. With Jeff Hafley becoming the new defensive coordinator, expect him to demand the team draft a safety early on, though we know the safety position and the NFL Draft don’t always go hand-in-hand with safeties not drafted nearly as often as most other defensive positions.
