Hendon Hooker Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Hooker has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- Hooker has a quick release and a live arm, delivering tight spirals, and Hooker shows good touch at the intermediate levels
- Hooker has shown the ability to get the ball downfield, and he exhibited impressive velocity and accuracy when throwing on the move. Looks like he has an NFL-level arm
- Has ideal height for the position at 6-4 and it’s an asset scanning the field, and also he’s a he is a better mover than a typical tall quarterback
- Really smart player, high character guy – who can be a natural team leader
Weaknesses
- Hooker has a tendency to hold the ball too long, and will make panicked throws; good things don’t always follow when he’s forced to extend plays
- Great a zipping the passes, not so good showing the touch the drop the ball into a bucket
- Executes in an offense that’s alien to what’s run in the NFL – it will be a steep learning curve for him in the pros

Hendon Hooker in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Hooker is a projected second round pick. However, because the QB position is so important, there are many drafts that have him going in the first round. Look for him to go to a team that can stash him for a year or two for two reasons. One, he is coming off of an ACL injury and two to let him learn the offense. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Hooker being drafted.
- Touchdown Wire – No. 20 overall: Bucs
- NBC Sports Chicago – No. 30 overall: Vikings
Would Hendon Hooker Fit on the Packers?
Hooker is a good fit for the Packers in one specific scenario. Aaron Rodgers comes back and the Packers end up trading Jordan Love. The Packers draft Hooker to then sit behind Rodgers for at least a year and then take over as the starter after getting at least a year to study the offense. His skill set would be a decent fit in Matt LaFleur’s offense. He would just need time to develop.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
This is an incredibly specific situation and I’m not sure Gutekunst is spending anything but a day 3 pick on a QB. There are other needs on this roster that the QB prospect has to be something special for Gutekunst to take a swing. There’s a possibility but I expect Hooker to be on a different team.
