Clark Phillips III Scouting Report
Per NFL Draft Buzz, Phillips III has the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths
- Changes directions with ease and has the frame to hold up at any spot in the secondary
- Fits best in a zone system at the next level due to size and ability to close to the ball
- Flashes good ball skills
Weaknesses
- Inconsistent getting off of blocks. Can be a step slow to react when a quarterback comes back to his side of the field late in progression
- NFL quarterbacks may take advantage of his aggressiveness in man and zone to eye up short routes and go over the top
- Better in zone coverage than in press coverage

Clark Phillips III in Mock Drafts
According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Phillips III is a projected late first-round pick. This cornerback class is deep and I expect many of them to go in the first round. The talent that many of these players have will be too much to resist. With the amount of high-powered offenses in the league, teams are looking for ways to shut them down. Below is a list of mock drafts and where they have Phillips III being drafted.
- Touchdown Wire – No. 16 overall: Commanders
- Yahoo Sports – No. 21 overall: Jaguars
- USA Today – No. 24 overall: Ravens
- AM NY – No. 29 overall: Vikings
- Gridiron Heroics – No. 31 overall: Eagles
Would Clark Phillips III Fit on the Packers?
Phillips III is a solid prospect but as with any cornerback pick, it is difficult to see where he fits within the defense. Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes and Rasul Douglas have the top three spots unless the Packers get fancy and move Douglas to safety. Phillips III is a solid prospect that should warrant a first round pick. I just expect the Packers to try and fill holes elsewhere rather than build depth at an already solid position.
Check Out Another Prospect That Could Fit For the Packers
This is the type of player that if he falls into the middle of the second-round, it might be tempting to pick him up for value. That’s the only way I see him fitting on the Packers unless a crazy trade happens where they give up Stokes for something. Phillips III is a nice player but I don’t see him on the Packers next year.
