There has not been a lot of good news coming from the Packers in the past couple of days. After an embarrassing loss to the Giants on Sunday, the Packers have issues all over the place. However, there is one piece of good news that has come out on Monday. The Packers special teams have a shocking ranking.
Packers Special Teams Shocking Ranking
Updating: the #Packers are 11th in special teams DVOA, up from 32nd last year.

After ranking dead last in the previous season in DVOA on special teams, the Packers have improved drastically. After five weeks, the Packers rank 11th in DVOA on special teams. This is an unbelievable turnaround for a unit that struggled mightily last year. Most fans would have been okay with a middle of the pack special teams unit. Basically anything but dead last would have been an improvement. No one expected this. The Packers are a borderline top ten unit in the league.
Credit to Rich Bisaccia
This might be the best coordinator hire of the year. Bisaccia has come in and totally changed the narrative on the Packers special teams. No longer do Packers fans hold their breath whenever a punt happens. The special teams are putting the team in a position to succeed. While the Packers are struggling to cash in, that is not on the special teams unit. Bringing in Bisaccia, who some believe should have been a head coach, was a home run of a hire by the Packers.
It is sad that the performance of the special teams unit is being wasted by a subpar defense and an underachieving offense. Hopefully the Packers will be able to turn things around and get back on the winning track this week vs. the Jets.
