Going into week 3 of the 2022 NFL season, the wide receiver position remains in flux. Sammy Watkins had a nice game Vs Chicago, however Green Bay has yet to have a wide receiver eclipse 100 yards in a game this season. Additionally, Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon are both top five on the team in targets. It was seemingly the game plan all along to get the running backs involved in the passing game, but you still would like to see a little more production out of the wide receivers. The Packers were named a great suitor for a wide receiver who hasn’t been utilized much at all this year. New England Patriot veteran wide receiver Kendrick Bourne.
Kendrick Bourne Would Be Big For Green Bay:
Bourne is a six-year veteran of the NFL. He played his first four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and the last two as a member of the Patriots.
In his career he has appeared in 77 games with 18 starts, per Pro Football Reference. He has accumulated 2,626 yards on 195 catches, including 16 touchdowns. He produced a career year with New England in 2021, totaling 55 receptions for 800 yards and five touchdowns.
Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report made some interesting points about Green Bay and Kendrick Bourne:
The possibility of the Packers adding a wide receiver is tired at this point, but they were connected to Laviska Shenault Jr. when he was traded to the Carolina Panthers so the possibility remains.
Sammy Watkins currently leads the team in receiving with 111 yards. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon are the second and fourth receiving leaders, respectively. Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson have had encouraging moments, but the room could still use an injection of talent.
For whatever reason, Bill Belichick and the revamped offensive staff in New England have decided not to feature Kendrick Bourne in their offense.
This would be the type of “under the radar” move that Green Bay is known for. The Packers’ front office may not target the Julio Jones or the Odell Beckhams of the world… but Kendrick Bourne? Could be a name to keep an eye on.

Bourne is being disciplined by the team. He got into a fight during joint practices and then he was late to a meeting later that week. The patriots offense is still going to heavily feature KB. He is the Pats best receiver lol. Had 55 receptions for 800 yards and 5 TDs last year and was one of Rookie Mac’s trusted targets and go to guys.
I keep seeing Packers pages trying to plug this connection in. Bourne isn’t going anywhere. And he definitely isn’t going to Green Bay if he were to leave. It’s almost sad that we are 2 games in and the Packers just can’t stand the fact that their receiving corp looks the way it does. Brady went years and years and years throwing to guys like Rodgers is having to throw to right now. The Packers can’t go two games without wanting to make a trade. At least give Rodgers’ a chance to develop a rapport with these guys. Watkins has looked pretty good so far and Christian Watson looks like a young stud. Tunyun hasn’t been the same since his injury but if he could get back to preinjury level of production, that could add a good receiver and a set of sure hands. You can do what you need to do and find who you need to find in-house. You don’t need to go after another teams veteran receiver who isn’t even on the market, he’s just more in the doghouse right now.
He is being disciplined, not shipped out. Stop with this narrative 😂🤦🏼♂️
