The NFL offseason has been no short of drama. The Green Bay Packers rival, Minnesota Vikings, have released running Dalvin Cook. Minnesota has been looking to trade him for some time. The Vikings moving forward will go with Alexander Mattison as their projected started running back and it changes the structure of their offense.
Packers Rival Minnesota Vikings Release RB Dalvin Cook
A season ago, the Minnesota Vikings won the NFC North and the Green Bay Packers were in third place in the NFC North. With Dalvin Cook on the free agent market after rushing for 1,173 yards on 264 carries and eight touchdowns, where will he land next?
Possible Landings Spots For Dalvin Cook
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys released Ezekiel Elliott during the offseason and have Tony Pollard as the starting running back in the backfield. Dallas needs another running back in its backfield to go with Pollard and Dalvin Cook would be a perfect fit.
Head coach Mike McCarthy wants to run a run-first offense with taking the pressure off of quarterback Dak Prescott. Cook has way more mileage in the tank than Ezekiel Elliott did.
Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have been in on Dalvin Cook for months. Miami is trying to go all-in this season. The Dolphins use a running back by committee system with Raheem Mostert leading the way. However, their offense would be extremely dangerous with a need for speed if they signed him.
Miami has Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle at the wide receiver position. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is most likely getting his last shot to prove himself because of all of the injuries that occurred over the past season. Head coach Mike McDaniel is an offensive genius and could deploy Cook well.
Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos is another team that has been in on Cook. Head coach Sean Payton had very good running backs on his football teams back with the New Orleans Saints. There needs to be pressure taken off of quarterback Russell Wilson.
The first way to fix Denver’s offense is to become a run-first team with him and Javonte Williams. The Broncos have talent, but they are in a very loaded AFC Conference.
Some of the other teams that could also take a look or sign Dalvin Cook: the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
