The Green Bay Packers find themselves looking at a high draft pick rather than a top playoff seed in 2022. However, that won’t help them if they want to pursue a quarterback Packers fans are salivating over. They would have to trade up in the 2023 draft to go get a quarterback that is taking the internet by storm. Coincidentally this quarterback ALMOST committed to the University of Wisconsin this past off-season. Caleb Williams of USC is a name many Packers fans will be watching over the next two years.
Caleb Williams To Green Bay In 2023?
Caleb Williams has put himself squarely in Hesiman talk as he is having himself a ridiculous season. Williams attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington D.C. from 2017 to 2021. He earned a number of awards and accolades during his time in high school. He went to college as a five-star recruit and the top quarterback prospect in his graduating class. Before moving to Southern California, Williams spent his freshman season at the University of Oklahoma.
He began the 2021 season as a backup, but was elevated to the starting role midway through the Sooners’ sixth game. Williams finished his freshman season with seven starts in 11 appearances, going 5-2 with 1,912 passing yards, 27 total touchdowns (21 passing, six rushing), and four interceptions. When former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley accepted the same job with the Trojans, Williams followed the man who recruited him. He officially committed to USC on Feb. 1, 2022, after entering the transfer portal on Jan. 3, 2022. Williams reportedly almost committed to the University of Wisconsin. While Caleb Williams was putting on a show in the Pac-12 Championship Game Packers fans were storming social media asking the Packers to draft him.

While it would take either a massive trade or a horrific 2023 season, getting Caleb Williams in Green Bay is something Packers fans want. It sure could be the start of a brand new era in Green Bay. Between now and the end of next season the Packers will have to figure out what they want to do with Jordan Love and Aaron Rodgers if they want to make this happen.
