The Green Bay Packers received the 22nd overall pick from the Las Vegas Raiders while trading away Davante Adams.  They also have the 28th overall pick after where they finished during the 2021 season.  History tells us that the 22nd-28th overall picks have produced some pretty darn good wide receivers.  Just for fun, we are going to take a look at the some of the receivers taken in this range of the first round.

    2020 NFL Draft:

    • 22nd Overall: WR Justin Jefferson (Minnesota)
    • 25th Overall: WR Brandon Aiyuk (San Francisco)

    2018 NFL Draft:

    • 24th Overall: WR D.J. Moore (Carolina)
    • 26th Overall: WR Calvin Ridley (Atlanta)

    2016 NFL Draft:

    • 22nd Overall: WR Josh Doctson (Washington)
    • 23rd Overall: WR Laquan Treadwell (Minnesota)

    2015 NFL Draft:

    • 26th Overall: WR Breshad Perriman (Baltimore)

    2014 NFL Draft:

    • 28th Overall: WR Kelvin Benjamin (Carolina)

    2013 NFL Draft:

    • 27th Overall: WR DeAndre Hopkins (Houston)

    2010 NFL Draft:

    • 22nd Overall: WR Demaryius Thomas (Denver)
    • 24th Overall: WR Dez Bryant (Dallas)

    2009 NFL Draft:

    • 22nd Overall: WR Percy Harvin (Minnesota)

    2007 NFL Draft:

    • 23rd Overall: WR Dwayne Bowe (Kansas City)
    • 27th Overall: WR Robert Meachem (New Orleans)

    2006 NFL Draft:

    • 25th Overall: WR Santonio Holmes (Pittsburgh)

    2005 NFL Draft:

    • 22nd Overall: WR Mark Clayton (Baltimore)
    • 24th Overall: QB Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay) *Not a WR but had to throw him in there*
    • 27th Overall: WR Roddy White (Atlanta)

    2002 NFL Draft:

    • 20th Overall: Javon Walker (Green Bay) *Not in the 22nd-28th overall range, but the last WR Green Bay has taken in the first round*

    2001 NFL Draft:

    • 25th Overall: WR Freddie Mitchell (Philadelphia)

    1998 NFL Draft:

    • 21st Overall: WR Randy Moss (Minnesota) *Not in the 22nd-28th overall range, but very notable*

    1997 NFL Draft:

    • 27th Overall: WR Rae Carruth (Carolina)

    1996 NFL Draft:

    • 24th Overall: WR Eric Moulds (Buffalo)

    1994 NFL Draft:

    • 24th Overall: WR Thomas Lewis (New York Giants)

    1993 NFL Draft:

    • 25th Overall: WR O.J. McDuffie (Miami)

    1991 NFL Draft:

    • 23rd Overall: WR Randal Hill (Miami)

Over the years there have been some SUPERSTARS selected in the range that Green Bay will be picking this year.  Green Bay may trade up in this years’ draft just because Brian Gutekunst has a history of doing so, however if they don’t they can still find great talent.  It will be interesting to see what the Packers do this year.
