The Green Bay Packers are still waiting on superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ decision about staying with the team, retiring, or wanting to be traded to the New York Jets. With the legal tampering window for free agency now open, the timeline has been messed up a bit. Green Bay had been hoping that Rodgers would have his decision made by now so they could know which direction they want to head.
Despite Rodgers not making his decision yet, Brian Gutekunst and the front office still have to conduct business. They have plenty of holes on the roster and a lot of other decisions that need to be made as well.
One of those decision regarded the future of dynamic kick returner Keisean Nixton. That decision has been made.
Packers Re-Sign Keisean Nixton To One-Year, $6 Million Contract
To begin free agency, the Packers have re-signed their electrifying return man. That report came from NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
The news #Packers fans have been waiting for: They've agreed to terms with All-Pro returner Keisean Nixon on a 1-year deal worth a max value of $6M, source said.

Nixon came onto the scene in a big way for the Packers in the 2022 NFL season. After years of struggling to find an adequate return man, Nixon completely change the special teams game for Green Bay.
He ended up returning 35 kicks on the season, amassing an impressive 1,009 yards on those returns and scoring a kick return for a touchdown.

Outside of his special teams ability, Nixon also showed that he can be a quality defensive depth piece as well. He racked up 23 total tackles to go along with a forced fumble, an interception, and two defended passes. Looking ahead to the 2023 season, he could have a bigger role on the defensive side of the ball as well.
Granted, this is only a one-year deal. Clearly, the Packers would still like to see more from Nixon before giving him a big payday. However, this is a move that the fans wanted to see badly and thankfully the team was able to get it done.
Expect to continue hearing news and rumors surrounding the Packers in the coming hours and days. Ideally, Rodgers will make a decision in the near future. Until then, fans will continue holding their breath.
