The Green Bay Packers revealed disappointing news on their top two wide receivers on the depth chart ahead of Wednesday’s practice. The Packers are getting ready to play the Chicago Bears on Sunday to kick off their regular season and Jordan Love’s first game as the full-time starter at quarterback.
But Love could have a hard time on Sunday.
The Packers chose not to add a veteran pass catcher this offseason to their main lineup at wide receiver and tight end. With the exception of tight end Josiah Deguara, the Packers will rely on rookie and second-year players to play tight end and wide receiver this season. General manager Brian Gutekunst said the decision was made deliberately this offseason so Love could grow with his skilled offensive weapons.
Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson out of Green Bay Packers practice
Unfortunately for the Packers, Matt Schneidman with The Athletic is reporting second-year wide receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs will not practice Wednesday due to injury.
Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs are both not practicing today. Both will be on the injury report.
Darnell Savage returned to practice after missing last Thursday.
David Bakhtiari also not practicing, though we’ll see plenty of that this season. Shouldn’t be a concern.

Watson is W1, and Doubs is WR2 on the Packers depth chart.
We’ll know a little more about how severe the injuries are this afternoon when the Packers release their Week 1 injury report. But Love will be prepping for the game by throwing to many rookie receivers on Wednesday. That wouldn’t look pretty if that continued through to Sunday.
