On Monday night, Indianapolis gave Taylor permission to seek a trade. So, it is very interesting that he showed up for his teammates the next day even though he is not in pads.
He is in the final year of his contract, and owner Jim Irsay has spoken out various times about the running back position. If Taylor does not suit up for the Colts this season, there will be various suitors for him. Some of the teams that are interested in his services could be the Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, and Chicago Bears. How does each of these teams make sense for him?
Jonathan Taylor Would Fit Best with the Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens need a running back in the backfield in the worst way. Lamar Jackson thrives on a very good running game, and that has been the mantra for Baltimore over the past several seasons. The top four running backs on the Ravens’ roster are J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, and Melvin Gordon III.
Jonathan Taylor would be a massive upgrade on the Baltimore Ravens roster. A trade between Indianapolis and Baltimore would make sense for both parties. The Ravens would be able to give him a long-term contract, and they are also in win-now mode. The Colts are in rebuild mode and need as much draft capital as possible.
The Philadelphia Eagles have a loaded roster but don’t need more help and the Chicago Bears are not ready to win yet. The Indianapolis Colts should do what is best for themselves with Jonathan Taylor, but the Baltimore Ravens make the most sense for his landing spot.
