Typically quarterbacks are off limits at OTA practices, but a video surfaced recently of Kirk Cousins on the receiving end of an absolute shot from a defensive end. The Minnesota Vikings are expected by most analysts to regress this season, with the Detroit Lions taking their place as the NFC North favorite.
Many of those analysts don’t have much faith in Cousins. The Vikings have made some interesting moves this season with their roster as they decide what to do with his and Justin Jerfferson’s contract futures. The team had to shed some talent, most recently releasing running back Dalvin Cook. Za’Darius Smith was traded to the Cleveland Browns this offseason.
Cousins has been a good quarterback for the Vikings, earning three Pro Bowls with the team. But the 34-year-old has just one playoff win with Minnesota. Some players around the league don’t seem to respect him.
Cam Jordan takes a shot at Kirk Cousins
A video appeared at the New Orleans Saints practice of defensive end Cam Jordan talking to his teammates during their OTAs. He told the players they needed to react fast while on the field. Jordan said a fast but wrong decision could turn into a good play. A fast and right decision was optimal. But Jordan stressed a slow but right decision would get a player benched. He then took a shot at Cousins:
Slow-right decisions, we love them, call them ‘Kirk Cousins,'” Jordan said.

Ouch, that was a brutal message aimed at Cousins.
Cousins is a good quarterback, but defensive players don’t seem to think he’s a top-tier quarterback despite his success. Cousins has thrown for over 37,000 yards with 252 touchdown passes. However, he also has thrown 105 interceptions and 84 fumbles. Maybe Cousins could have a better stat line if he doesn’t hold on to the ball too long.
