A former rival of the Green Bay Packers is up for a big award. NFL fans reacted to the news, reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, that former Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall would be eligible for the Hall of Fame in 2024.
Marshall had an incredible 13-year career in the NFL. He finished with 12,351 yards receiving and 83 touchdown receptions. He played three years for the Bears.
Brandon Marshall didn’t like the Green Bay Packers
Per a 2012 report by Lindsay Jones with USA Today, Marshall expressed his disdain for the Packers before his matchup against Green Bay:
Marshall has been counting the days to this week’s NFC North rematch ever since. At his Wednesday news conference, Marshall called Sunday’s game against Green Bay the “biggest game of my career.”
It also is one Marshall said he is taking “personal” because he feels Green Bay players, particularly cornerback Tramon Williams and safety Charles Woodson, disrespected him and his teammates, including quarterback Jay Cutler, in September. Green Bay won that first meeting 23-10 at Lambeau Field.
“I don’t like the Green Bay Packers. I’m not going to use the word ‘hate,’ but I really dislike the Packers and their players,” Marshall said. “But you know what? The talk has to back it up. We’ll go out there and do everything we have to do to get a win.”
While Marshall may have disliked the Packers, he appreciates the career of Aaron Rodgers, who was the Packers’ quarterback when Marshall made those comments.
Marshall went as far as to say he’d be willing to play for the New York Jets this season as a tight end. However, if he were to do so, he’d kill his eligibility for the Hall of Fame in 2024,

Absolutely legendary! Brandon Marshall’s career was a true marvel to witness. With remarkable stats and milestones, he left an indelible mark on the history of the wide receiver position. The Hall of Fame surely awaits him with open arms in 2024.

If Calvin Johnson is in the Hall of fame then Brandon Marshall should be. I don’t even like Brandon Marshall. But the numbers are the numbers

You all listed a bunch of 80’ and 90’s era receivers and one hall of famed who retired at 29-30, Brandon Marshall was a great player, an all time, legendary, hall of fame receiver?? Come on…

If Brandon Marshall makes the hall of fame I’ll eat a shoe. https://t.co/VA2cVr2qCk

Brandon Marshall will never be in hall of fame… maybe the hall of good. He has zero defining plays. Not sure I ever remember him making plays in the playoffs

I think Brandon Marshall has a strong case for the hall of fame but i don’t think he’s a first ballot guy
